Additional Ongoing Safety Measures

Disinfecting Instructions

Per CDC guidelines we will “clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces in household common areas (e.g. tables, hard-backed chairs, doorknobs, light switches, phones, tablets, touch screens, remote controls, keyboards, handles, desks, toilets, sinks), using EPA-registered disinfectants”.

  • Clean first: with general cleaner. Disinfectants are not surfactants, meaning they cannot break down and remove soils like a general cleaner is designed to do.  Failing to remove soil before disinfecting actually creates greater long-term exposure to germs than not disinfecting at all.
  • Disinfect: Simply spraying a disinfectant doesn’t mean you’re cleaning for health.  It must be properly used to be effective.  Do not use a “spray and wipe” method.  Spray or apply disinfectant to a surface, then let it dry on its own so that the disinfectant remains on the surface long enough to actually kill microbes.  This is called “dwell time”.
  • Avoid cross-contamination: It is not acceptable to use the same rag on a toilet and sink.  Be sure to use different rags and gloves on food surfaces and counters than you would use on toilets and other bathroom or floor surfaces.  Be sure to launder rags and mop heads in bleach after each use.

Masks and Gloves

Disposable gloves will be provided for use when disinfecting surfaces.  Masks will be provided, either disposable single-use or reusable masks which will be laundered after each use.

Social Distancing

The practice of social distancing will be in place and expected from both cleaners and clients to the best of everyone’s ability.

Health Verification

Employees will be required to take their temperature each day before reporting to work.  If a cleaner has a fever or is feeling ill in any way, they are to contact their supervisor and not report to the client’s home to clean.  It is expected that the client will call MGTT management to cancel their cleaning should a member of their household become sick.
